We are a team of lawyers who focus on the energy sector and offer a full legal support and advisory service to our clients. As well as having the expertise to “get deals done” we also support our clients in ensuring that they are up to date and can take full advantage of current legislation and can anticipate and act on changes in policy.

Our dedicated energy team has experience in all sectors of the energy industry, including solar, wind, biomass and tidal energy and other more traditional forms of power such as coal, gas and oil.  We have the strength in depth and technical expertise to advise on complex and high value projects. Recent projects have included advising on a £170 million + new biomass power station and wind projects that have ranged from single turbine ventures through to multi turbine wind farms.

Such experience, combined with our comprehensive understanding of this dynamic sector, translates into the provision of business focused, high quality and cost effective advice.

About Acuity Legal

Acuity Legal was founded in 1999 and since that date has grown steadily from 2 partners and 4 staff to a current level of 10 partners and 41 staff.

Our ethos has always been to take an entrepreneurial approach to law and to offer clients a partner led and commercial service. Most of our partners have all served their time in large firms, and have joined Acuity Legal so they can continue to provide the same high quality advice but are also able to develop closer relationships, and ‘partner’ their clients.

We see our relationship with each client as a long term partnership, with Acuity Legal providing all of the legal advice required for that client to achieve its business plans. Our strap-line is “clear thinking” and that is our ethos!

We are willing to be flexible with fee structures and are willing to agree fixed fees for projects and transactions.  We recognise that in some cases clients wish to minimise the risk on fees if a transaction does not complete, and where we believe in a transaction we will consider taking on work on a contingent (success only) basis.

We also recognise that in today’s business world, lawyers need to be mobile and we are always happy to travel with clients to get a deal done.  In the last 12 months we have deployed teams of lawyers throughout Europe and further afield to Tanzania, the USA and Australia.

The policy of the firm is only to recruit lawyers with entrepreneurial spirit and commercial acumen.  Our partners are all recognised as leading practitioners in their fields and have all previously worked with large regional or City firms.

We recognise that speed and commerciality is key to clients.  Our ethos is to ensure that deals happen.  Lawyers can often be criticised for presenting dry legal arguments and becoming almost impediments to concluding transactions.  With our partner driven approach, we aim to overcome obstacles and address the risks quickly and commercially.

In doing so, we do not forget that team spirit is critical.  Our firm has an extremely low staff turnover (lawyer or support staff).
